Reggio Emilia Wool comes from a small farm located in the hills of Reggio Emilia, a town in northern Italy. The sheep raised here are a crossbreed with the Lacaune breed from France, producing a soft and cozy merino-type wool.

The sheep are shorn once a year, in spring, and during the winter, they stay warm and protected in the barn. After shearing, the wool is washed and spun without additives or chemicals, preserving all the natural properties of lanolin and keratin.

Because of this, you may find a few strands of hay in the fiber (which can be easily removed!), and you might notice a slight stickiness while knitting. That’s the lanolin—a natural wax that nourishes the skin and helps keep your hand joints supple!

Reggio Emilia Wool is a rustic, warm, and sustainable yarn, perfect for those who appreciate wool in its most authentic form, with all the beauty and qualities of a natural fiber crafted with care and respect.

⚠ Please note: Since this yarn is hand-dyed, colors and shades may vary slightly from one batch to another.
As a handcrafted product, each skein is unique and may vary slightly in weight and shade. For this reason, we recommend purchasing an extra skein to ensure you have enough material for your project.
